The nomination is in the Charter Standard league of the year award and we have been invited to attend the awards ceremony at St Georges Park on the 10th June 2016.
Although we haven’t won anything yet, to be nominated is a great achievement for the League.
To the League it means that we are working in the right direction with dedicated people who understand the development needed within the female game.
We all play an very important part within the League and this isn’t just down to the League Committee, this includes each and everyone person who works tirelessly day in day out to ensure that we provide a quality service to everyone.

The Staffordshire Girls League and The Staffordshire FA are continuously working hard together to develop the opportunities for Girls playing football within the county. With an ever growing league we have been able to see a number of girls successfully progress through the age groups. However, it has not gone unnoticed that without an Under 18s League – teams are having to travel and play outside Staffordshire. This is something we want to change, by having an Under 18s league we hope to minimalize the amount of girls dropping out of football after the age of 16 and stop the need for younger girls playing open age football, of which for some can be daunting and off-putting.
For the 16/17 season we are proposing to hold an U18’s County wide age group as part of the Staffordshire Girl’s League. We have had interest from a number of teams and want to make this provision as sustainable as possible. We are looking for clubs and teams to commit to playing within this league for the upcoming season, as we try and develop the progression from youth to open age football for Girl’s in Staffordshire.
Provisionally, the league will play on a Saturday with a 3 year age banding, allowing girls who also wish to play open age this opportunity. We are also recommending the structure stays at 11v11 in order to aid the girl’s development however if this isn’t achievable, we may also be open to discussing changing the playing formats to suit all girls involved, with the possibility of a 5v5, 6v6 or 9v9 league in its place.
As an offer to you, with an aim to helping develop these teams in a sustainable environment, all teams who commit to playing within this league by the 31st May 2016 will receive a 50% discounted league entry fee.
Please note any teams wishing to join the league after this date will be required to pay the full price of £60.
If you are interested in entering a team into an U18s League in Staffordshire, please fill out and return the below expression of interest form.
If you have any questions or queries please don’t hesitate to contact either Bethan Woolley (Football Development Officer, Inclusion) or Wendy Bryant (Staffordshire Girls League Secretary) who will be happy to answer any questions you may have regarding the facilitation of the league.
On behalf of the Staffordshire Girls League can we thank Jodie Allard for all her support, help and hard work within the League over the last two years.
With Jodie’s help the League reformed, renamed and has developed, not only with the introduction of Futsal but with the growth and development of the teams within the League.
Jodie is leaving Staffordshire FA on Friday to go off on her travels, lucky thing, we wish you the best of luck on your new adventures, have a great time and keep in touch.
